vga is a vga line utility (lets you defite standard dos resolutions, at least thats what i've discerned from it).

vbe is a vga extended resolution utility (lets you use modes like 640x480x16 that windows runs in).

vbev and vgav are utilities that let you test out the different resolutions on your arcade monitor to see if they will work.

univbe is a utility created by Scitech Software, that is used in dos to make use of extended vbe video modes.

univbe lets your video card use the extended videomodes that does normally cannot make use of.

so, basically, you load univbe, then run vgav.bat, and then vbev.bat to test the resolutions. Before exiting each program, be sure to save your changes (As each program writes a .cfg for vga and vbe respectively).

Once you have your modes, change your autoexec.bat to include :

univbe
vbe

these will load and then windows will load.

Hope that helps...
