Try pressing the "F8" key and choose "Command prompt only".

You can also run a DOS prompt from Windows and press "Alt-Enter" to put in window, and then click on the top left icon on the window and choose "Properties". Then click "advanced" and click the "Prevent MS-DOS programs from detecting windows tab"

If you want to default to DOS mode at startup, do not install the full windows, instead format a floppy with the /S option and then copy sys.com from the "C:\windows\commmand directory" boot from it and type "SYS C:". Next, delete all files in the windows directory, except for the "C:\windows\command directory.

: I have a question for those of you who are using win 98 but booting into dos. I have an sb16 soundcard installed now but I am unable to load the dos drivers for this because it says that I am using win 95 and it can only load the drivers and applications onto dos or win 3.x. How then do you get your soundcard to work?
: All help appreciated
: Eric
