I had a horrible old video card in my MAME PC which killed the performance of AdvanceMAME. I was only getting 4 (yes, four!!!!) fps on PacMan!
I picked up a Trident Blade 3D, and that fixed everything. My MAME PC has a P223MMX processor with 128 Meg o RAM.
: I have a celeron 300 w/ 64megs ram running in pure DOS for my dedicated cabinet. I use Advance mame to stretch games like Pac-man and Galaga to fit the full screen on my monitor. The rest of the games run fine with regular mame. While using Advancemame the games run a lot slower and the scrolling is awfull. The games running the regular mame run fine though. Is my computer just too slow for advancemame? Should I be running in dos box in windows to increase performance (I get 60 fps this way and only around 58 fps in pure dos)? Is anybody out there with my setup getting smooth scrolling with advancemame? Any help would be appreciated, I am thinking a processor upgrade will do the trick but I am not sure how much I should get. I don't play any games later than 1988 so I don't need a lot of power just enough to smooth out advancemame.
