: I have a question for those of you who are using win 98 but booting into dos. I have an sb16 soundcard installed now but I am unable to load the dos drivers for this because it says that I am using win 95 and it can only load the drivers and applications onto dos or win 3.x. How then do you get your soundcard to work?
: All help appreciated

You really don't need to run the install program. I run windows 98 in with bootgui=0 and this works for me. Just go to creative's site and get the 95dosapp.exe file from the DOS soundblaster 16 download area. Put the files extracted when running 95dosapp.exe in a file in your root directory c: . I named mine sb16 and put the extracted files inside it. Go to this link ( http://www.nsai.net/~saint/Files/Archives/messages/8907.html ) and get and get the information you will need to put in your config.sys and autoexec.bat files. If it does not work right away try running DIAGNOSE.exe in this new file from DOS and configure it from there. If it will not set it up on any IRQ you will need to go into your BIOS and set the PLUG AND PLAY OS to NO. Hope this helps.
