Questions about the KE-24????

I've been thinking about getting the KE-24 encoder, but I've got a few questions first. I know a lot of you are using this so I'm hoping you'll be able to answer these simple questions.

1. Right now I've got a hacked keyboard PCB in my control panel. I've got the num lock and caps lock LED's going to player one and two buttons so they flash when you put coins in. I was wondering, will I still be able to have this feature with the KE-24? Does it have LED's on it?

2. I read that the KE-24 has a RS-232 port on it. What is that for and how would I use it in my control panel?
