I recently posted this opinion of a 25" Pentranic Monitor (I got it for $370 shipped):

Well, I am using this monitor in my MBA Jam Extreme cabinet which has NOT been MAMEd. Therefore I can only report on the image appearance when used with a JAMMA PCB.

The picture is clear and brght as any new standard res monitor would be. There are plenty of ways to adjust the picture whether it be on the neckboard, or on the "remote" unit. I have not yet tested the medium res capabilities of this monitor, but the reason I chose this model over the std res, was merely for future considerations. I may get a Golden Tee PCB or maybe NFL Blitz or something along those lines so I wanted a monitor that could deal with it.

One interesting note about the horizontal scanlines. They appear to be farther apart from each other the closer you look towards the bottom of the screen. This is only apparent on the screen where the players names scroll up the screen. It is not apparent during normal game play. I seem to remember other displays doing this as well, so I am not worried about it.

Installation is a snap in terms of wiring the standard inputs: R, B, G, gnd, and SYNC. An interesting note is that the manual claims that the yellow wire is the sync wire and the white one is not used. That's bullshit, as I had to wire my sync to both the white and the yellow to get a stable picture.

This monitor does not require the use of an isolation transformer. I may have posted here that I would always use one regardless of whether the monitor needed one or not, but not this time. The iso actually makes the picture quite fuzzy and downright annoying.

This is not the Cadillac of monitors. I believe that to be the WG U9200 or whatever the model is. This tube is great for what I need, and that is a replacement for a dedicated upright cabinet (for now :)

: New Hitachi 25" Color Monitor Model #25FS2 for arcade games. Is this monitor a good choice for mame, final burn and any other emulators. I need to find a monitor for my custom built arcade cabinet. 25 inch is the biggest monitor that would fit. I want the best monitor for emulation, cost isn't really a concern. I'm not sure how I would mount the monitor. Should I construct a frame made out of 2 by 4's. Any help on either subjects will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
