I built a controller with Happ competition pushbuttons. I also have a HotRod SE. I don't know the name of the buttons in the HotRod, but I prefer them to the competition pushbuttons. The HotRod's buttons are concave, so they help hold your fingers in place and make the controller more comfortable. The competition pushbuttons are convex.
If you want to test the comfort factor out for yourself, you could visit an arcade, but you may have trouble finding a machine with competition pushbuttons.
