Looks to me like he is only used the Mac cables because they were small connectors with many pins, and used them as quick-disconnects.

Actually, thats an 'Asteroids' backdrop.
Blasteroids didnt have one.
And to be nit-picky, Asteroids Deluxe was the sequal to Asteroids. :)
