Metal control panels rule!

I, too, went with a metal panel. I'll be damned if I was going to try to cut through steel. Besides, my panel had a lot of quirky angles, and I didn't have the necessary tools. Cost me $80 for my irregularly shaped panel with holes. (I supplied them with the pattern.)

I, like most people, was initally inclined to go with a wood panel. Dead set against metal (too scared?) But, wow, there's no comparison to a metal panel. The results really surprised me.

I don't know if you saw my post from today, but I used a Rust-o-leum "hammered metal" spraypaint to finish mine. Painting aluminum should be no different. Ever see aluminum siding on a house?

Per instructions on the can: Just prime first, wet sand second, and paint third. My panel now has the look/feel of a coin door. Looks great, if I can say so myself. I strongly recommend taking a look at it at your local Home Depot.
