I didn't make myself very clear before. What I meant to say was that I was going to modify a gamepad with Happ arcade controls (super joystick and buttons), a project I've seen plenty of people do with an original Sidewinder. I can see why : the electronics inside the Sidewinder are very easy to understand. I was wondering why I haven't seen people use the USB Sidewinder for the same sort of project.
