: I have a question about the way some people design thier joystick/button layouts...

: (Please don't take this as criticism, I am not trying to offend anyone - everyone's projects are great and I'm sure they are all better than mine. (especially knowing the way I throw my designs together) And I'm sure everyone has thier own preferences to how they want thier layouts to be, and sometimes due to restrictions of the cabinet, they sometimes HAVE to place controls in a certiain place of the joystick panel...)

: I guess I am just confused as to why some panels are designed in this fashion:

: Player 1 positioning:
: Joystick on the left & buttons on the right.

: Player 2 positioning:
: Buttons on the left & Joystick on the right.

: I've NEVER seen a video game's joystick panel layed
: out this way. All fighting games I've seen (for example) have the joystick on the left, and 6 buttons on the right.. for each player.

: Wouldn't 'reversing' the joy/buttons for player 2 really mess someone up when playing a game? I know I could never play a fighting game with the joystick in the right hand. I know there are a few video games where the buttons are actually to the left of a joystick, but those games are far and few...

: Just curious.

: Dave
