Back in the old school days, my local arcade Funspot had a GIANT slot car track, and it was very popular. The cars were about a FOOT long, and the track took up a space of about 20' by 50' it was really cool. But as days grew later, they took it out, I think they were sick of having many attendants running the game, cars flipped off the track CONSTANTLY. I wonder what happened to it.

: Wanna fire up that router again ? go get some 3/4" MDF, a 1/8" router bit, and some aluminum or copper tape at www.ncphobbies.com and build a slot car track. I did - check out the pic.... I also hooked up photocells at the pit stop and interfaced them into the parallel port of a 386 for lap timing !!!

: p.s. there's more pics at that site - go take a look....

: : I have done two cabs so far and it is really upsetting when you are finished. Yes, I played with my new toy when I completed it but soon after it lost the "spark". I am already wanting to build a third even though my wife says "No way in hell!" and I do not have any room for it. I think building the thing (vs playing on it) was what I really wanted to do this whole time. Don't get me wrong - I'll probably play Joust or Frogger tonight but I would much rather be playing with contact cement (for the formica) or my router.
