Some will say the answer to your problems involves the use of diodes. Be forewarned, however, that this DOES NOT ALWAYS FIX THE PROBLEM. It will depend upon which keyboard you are using. This is the voice of experience, as I spent another 2 hours unwiring all my switches and installing diodes just to find that it made ZERO difference.

There is another option though. Buy a cheap joystick (just a simple one with 4 buttons and a D-pad, the old Gravis Gamepad works great) and gut it.

Hook your 2nd joystick and 4 buttons up to that.
I did this on my panel and have 17 buttons, 2 sticks and a mouse based spinner with no conflicts.

: when i press a few buttons on both player one and two's side either no input goes threw or the key press is just not registered.
: Most games are fine but fighting games are a complete drag because of this.
