MAMEb13 under pure DOS

Has anyone else noticed that MANY games under b13 will crash if you run them under pure DOS? When I test them under a windows DOS box, they all work fine. Games like Bubble Bobble, Metal Slug, etc... It almost seems like more don't work than do.

If anyone else has seen this, did you find a workaround?
