No offence to other people making the same kind of project, but you can not just ignore the diagonals. That is the exclusive mode of my IC, and I do not recomend to use it for most games. Sticky mode works the best.

Say you are playing QIX in exclusive mode. You will notice the fuse at the end of your line will start burning every time you change directions. This does not happen in sticky mode. Also the diagonals of an 8-way stick tend to have more of an angle of response then the main direction (at least on the HotRod), so you will notice the joystick keeps going to off in exclusive mode.
