Is there a detailed way to make or better yet buy a vga cable that can hook up to a monitor? Is this simple to make? Is it worth the trouble in using an arcade monitor?

I know of a guy that has a lot of cabinet and arcade monitors and would be willing to sell me one but I would need to use a vga/monitor cable and all of the scare statements on this site makes me feel a bit akward in doing this. Is it really that much trouble to do. I want a vertical monitor...thanks for the help
