I had to take that into consideration as well. The panel on my Defender standup is only 24.5x8 and I have 2 sticks, 17 buttons and the spinner. Looks good and functional.
But to answer your concern, the Mouspinner (my name for it) takes up about 3"x2" and needs about 6 vertical inches. Not a problem for most enclosures. It can be positioned to fit in a tight spot, as it is a little smaller in one direction than the other.
I'm also considering building the whole panel for sale. Lexan laminated surface, full color underside printing, T-molding, etc....
