I managed to figure out the AdvanceMame utilities so this issue might be moot as it does not crash at all. It's just a matter of figuring out which modes I need for my collection of vertical games on a vertical monitor. (I could use some advice here...)
For what it's worth, my card has a PCI bus and have not tested it with any other system.
: I bought one of these, had the exact same problem. It seems defective chipset and AGP port. I returned the board, got a new one and the same shit happened. Even Windows freezes, only runs properly in Safe Mode. Tested on my K6-2 500 (FIC VA 503A, 64 Mb PC-100), on a friend's P3 866 (CUV 4X, 128 Mb PC-133), and on a Duron 700 (A7V, 128 Mb PC-133) and had the same problem. The board made MAME run slower in a P3 866 than a K6-2 using an older videocard!
: It's a cheap video card but should not have this problem, I think it's a defective shipment - I live in Rio de Janeiro, and this shipment came here, maybe this problem will appear in many other countries. It's sad...
: I got this cheap board because there's much talk about it working so great with arcade monitors, unfortunately I got no luck with it. I tried with AdvanceVBE and speed almost tripled but it's not worth to keep this defective board. Change it for something else or until you find one that works OK.
