This was discussed some time last year. Crosses won't work. Using that concept in order to go from left to up you have to go back to center. In order to switch any direction you need to be able to immediately get to that position... Not go back to the center first.

: Hi! I had this brain wave the other day when I was thinking how to turn my 8-way into a 4-way with no screwdriver and back again within seconds.

: Here goes (excuse my lack of terminology)...
: On my Hotrod each stick has a round disc which fits between the stick and the Hotrod. You can lift that up to see a 15mm (or so) circular hole into the Hotrod.

: Now if that circular hole was infact a cross then the joystick would only be able to move 4 ways no?

: But what could you use for that? Well how about two rubber semi-circular shapes which jam in either side of the stick. If it was rubber and the crosses axis' were rounded then this would turn into a nice little temporary 4 way device?

: Is this a good idea? Has this already been done? Or am I talking bollocks?

: I'd love to hear your views of my brainwave.

: John King..
