Newbie..To choose PCmonitor or Arcade?Jamma an spinner Question also

First of all, this is a great board!!!
I just dove into this hobbie and have a couple of questions:
I just aquired a Cal-50 cabinet with some guts left inside. I am going to run the system with either an AMD K-6 450 or P133. I also am buying a HotShot Controller board.
Questions:
1 - Why don't I just buy a 19" computer monitor instead of having all the problems I am reading with Arcade monitors?
2 - There is a JAMMA board in the machine still. What is it, and do I need to use it for anything(keep seeing things about people modifying them)?
3 - I am going to use the spinner controller that was left in the machine. There are 4 wires out of it. How do I wire/convert it to use with the PC?

Any other suggestions for a novice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!
