I also like the 6 button layout. Say you were playing asteroids, the original games used buttons to turn your ship, not a joyustick. With a 6 button layout you can configur the buttons to simulate the asteroids setup. It is not perfect, but better than using a joystick.

But you have more options with more buttons setup in a neat pattern.

I did not setup the 7 button configuration because I have never played any of the NeoGeo games in the arcade (I heven't been to an arcade in 10 or more years). So I would not know how they were suppose to be setup. :)
