Which monitor?

Hi

Im thinking of building a dedicated MAME PC to use with my HotRod joystick but am unsure what the best solution for the video display would be.
I want to get a display (about 19 inch) that will give me the most authentic look to an actual arcade machine - using a VGA computer monitor with fake scanlines just doesn't look right.
I guess there would be a problem using a real arcade monitor as I won't be mounting it in a cabinet. Is using a regular TV a good option?
What's the best video card to get?
Any help on this subject welcomed!
