: There is a good reason for this query, the Dos version of Mame is the only one to support output to a real arcade monitor. A direct X driver for the control just isn't good enough. Has anyone tried to attach the spinners optical output directly to an optical mouse/trackball circuit?? I live in the UK and if I am to make an international order for a a couple of these sticks, I need to know it will work in my PC=>jamma cabinet.

Its just not necessary, unless you can't spare the $50 bucks for the optical trackball interfacve kit. The kit is fully compatible with dos MAME, and as I've written several times on this board, having the interface leaves you free for easy upgrades/expansion for the future i.e Steering wheels, trackball etc. However, if you do want to hardwire to mouse guts, I'm pretty sure it would be possible (see a thread on this topic a little ways down on this message board for more on this) It seems to me, however that the time spent trying to figure it out, plus the time spent putting it all together, and troubleshooting makes the interface kit well worth the money. Check out the bits about this setup in the controls section of the FAQ and check out this URL:
