Monitors are usually designed to use convection (hot air rises) to circulate air through them. By rotating the monitor, you risk the heat pooling along one side, possibly damaging or shortening the life of some components. If you can force some air circulation with a fan or remove the exterior shell you shouldnt have any trouble.

Tip it on its side and look for yourself. Shouldnt be too hard to see if the heat is going to be trapped.
