Shift keys are actually built in to MAME. I found you press tab to go into the config, and under input, just press the two keys you wish to use. I also found you could do AND or NOT arguements as well.

: Shift keys are not a function of Mame itself, or atleast that I know of.

: Shift keys are used with the I-Pac and AOS front ends, there may be others that allow this as well. What interface and front end are you using, and what do you want the shift keys to do?

: I use AOS with shift keys to exit games, pause, enter setup, etc. They are defined in the Arcadeos.cfg file.
