A magnetic field would give you discoloration but I don't know about flickering. Aside from that, a flourscent light doesn't have a magnetic field associated with it...hold a compass up too it.

The flicker could very well be because of the light since when you turned it off the flickering quit - but maybe its the ballast or starter?


: I have a small problem. The flourescent light behind my marquee is causing a magnetic field that is causing the upper right corner of the screen on my monitor to flicker. When I turn the light off, the flickering stops. When I turn it on, it starts again. Degaussing doesn't help.

: Can anyone tell me what I can use to shield the monitor from this magnetic field?
