- I hear a lot of "what are you doing? Are you nuts?" too, but like everyone else, after they see the final product, they usually change their toon to "wow, this is cool!" "how did you do this?" "you must be really smart to do this". (and I don't even have a full cabinet yet, just a control panel). I usually say the typical response of "you could do it too if you wanted too and all you need to do is be able to learn from other people and have a little bit of skill in woodworking and soldering.
I think that most of the people who don't build their own panel or cabinet aren't really into it (or as nuts :) ) as we are, but they just like playing the games after you've done the work, which is ok too. I have to agree with MrSaLTy, that most of the fun comes from actually building it and after you are done, having something that not only works like it's supposed to, but also brings back memories of the good old days. I just can't wait until I get a house so I can start building my cabinet too! :)

Game on!! Brian

: Well now that I am almost finished with my cabinet, (somehow I figure I will never REALLY ever be done)I have a few observations on how others view this project. The reactions i get from co-workers and friends run from "you are doing what?" to "COOL!!!!! when can i play?" While most friends etc that are around the same age think the cabinet is freakin great, none of then are very interested in how it was done. I get a lot of "you must be really smart" and "I could never do that". I actually think many people could do it if they just read up on it and do some research.

: Maybe we are just a little wierd cuz a lot of the attraction for this project for me was DOING the project. If has so may interesting facets like woodworking, electonics, computers etc. I am like "hey check out my web page" to friends and they look at it for a few minutes and then are like "its too technical for me" But I know that many of you have looked that the page and were helped by it so that makes me glad I did it.

: While many people don't really care to know how it was done, they sure like to play it!!

: Anyone else get this kinda reactions? Just curious.
