Following from some comments posted abuot alternatives to Arcade OS - What other versions of Mame exist for the PC Win/Dos and what are their relative merits. I've always stuck to AMD optimised version as I know no better.

Is there a better choice?

My cabinet uses Arcade OS, K6 Mame, normal PC monitor and a Riva TNT2 (machine doubles as my normal PC at the moment). I get errors from time to time stating certain graphics modes are not available and have to run some games in slightly higher resolutions to get them to run.

Will a different front end and Mame varient help? I have been happy wth Arcade OS on the whole & would like to run console emulators throught the front end as well.
