I-Pac and Opti-Pac Problem...

Hi. Just got my I-pac and Opti-pac's today. For a test run, I hooked the I-pac to the USB port adn then the opti-pac to the i-pac for power supply. Then I hooked the serial cable to the opti-pac and to the pc. I hooked up the trackball to the opti-pac as per the instructions, and it doesnt work. Windows found the drivers no problem and installed all that, but when i go into MAME32 the trackball does NOT work. What the hell is going wrong here?
