: I am an ex-classics collector. from 1996-1998 I came into ownership of ~300 vids (going to auctions and buying from vendors). Most of them I was able to get working and sold them thru the internet. I kept my favorites for myself, and sold the rest at auctions.

: I was literally repairing my Tempest weekly. Must have replaced the board 7 times in one year. My breaking point was where I spent $500 for an NOS boardset (ebay) and $1250 for a new WG K7200 monitor (I think that was the model... don't crucify me if my memory is wrong), and after 6 months I had again repaired it at least 3 times.

: I had resisted MAME throughout. But when the keyboard encoders came to my attention, it became a "no-brainer." Now I have no downtime or repair time. The kids love it, I love it, and with the encoders (or controllers, like the Twisty-grip yoke) believe me, there is no difference.

: But hey, to each his own. Personally, I prefer Arcade@Home over ArcadeOS. If the creator of ArcadeOS has the patience, space, and wife that allow him to favor the real thing, that's excellent. In my opinion the only thing you sacrifice with emulation is the artwork (control panel, marquee, and sides.) For me, that's a small price to pay for the benefits I enjoy in emulation.

: And for the record, to avoid violating your conscience, you don't need to own the cabinet to have legal rights to the ROMS. If you purchased the software (for example, Microsoft Return of Arcade , Williams Arcade Classics, Midway's Greatest Hits, etc... cd rom or PC or PSX) you are legally entitled to those.
