As I posted earlier this week, I ripped one of these (broken) sticks open for a DC hack...

The joystick uses 4 microswitches that look like Cherry switches (a different brand though) with slightly different "prongs" though, since the switches are actually soldered onto a PCB at the bottom of the joystick assembly. So the joystick is wired to the main PCB by 5 leads coming off one end of the joystick. Actually quite handy.

The buttons have little switches built inside, and are kind of similar to the buttons used in Japanese cabinets. They have 2 prongs sticking out, and are connected by connectors very similar to the molex type. These connectors are held in place extra firmly by some sort of melted plastic type of glue. The prongs are very fragile and wouldn't suggest disconnecting these connectors unless you have to. Again, the wires from these switches all run to the main PCB.

The little yellow start button has the wires coming out of itself, and can't really be removed from the assembly.

At the main PCB, everything is held on with 3 little white connectors, so you can plug/unplug the button connections, joystick connections or cord (to the DC) connections as a group. (If you wanted to use the PCB in a hack, the sockets are easily removed leaving you with copper rings for your wires, or you could splice wire to the connectors.) To avoid damaging the connectors, I'd pick up one of those things for removing chips at Radio Shack, it's the only thing I could use to get them unplugged without damaging the connectors.

: How does the Agetec Stick connect the buttons? Is it like a terminal you can put on cherry switches?
