: The other day in preparing my DC joystick hack, I plugged a controller into my DC while it was still on (I guess I wasn't paying attention... oops!) and the controller port stopped working on me - I mean no joysticks at all would work, in any socket.

: So I paid 12 bucks and got a new joystick port PCB from www.ncsx.com and now it's fine, but this is silly... The same thing happened to my friends N64. And I've heard of DC GD-ROM drives burning out, and playstations overheating after playing for X hours or whatever, and you have to worry about scratching CDs, and not setting them on a carpet, and not plugging things in when they're on...

: I remember when I had an NES, a game didn't work, and we'd blow in the cartridge. My friend's NES had the TV shelf break, and the TV fell down on top of it. So what did they do? Open it up, bend the metal bits back and it worked fine! We used to step on the controllers all the time. And why is it with every next-gen console, the gamepad cords seem to keep getting shorter?

: And damn it, I want another faux-wood-grain finish like my old Atari.

:
: Sorry, this was a silly rant, I'm just annoyed.
