If you got an ATI card (Mach64 chipset) then most MAME games will work, the question is how many games will in my opinon look not too hot..

Firstly Games that use a width>320 will be incredably small (remember the max width for a game is 640 or 320 (doubled)) another thing if the games height>240 then it becomes interlaced (meaning every other line is skipped, making vertical games looking pretty awful, not so bad if you've got a rotated monitor setup, or you could use -waitinterlace this makes it (full 640x480 mode, but there rate is 30hz, making games with a frame rate higher than 30fps unplayable).

I'd say 'bout 80% of games (including rotated games on my setup i.e monitor rotation) look great (fantastic RGB colour, 100% identical to Arcade PCB versions), 16bit colour is supported also from the ATI driver.

Choice is yours, if you want to play Rotated games or Med Res/High Res then you might want to consider something else..
