Chances are you'll be able to modify the monitor to have a switches at the front..
My Std/Med Res monitor to change freq from Std to Med, I have to remove the wire set from one set of pins to another..
The theory is wiring both plugs upto a switch box and then be able to switch the monitor when required, without the hassel of putting my hand in the back and switching..
Also Med Res monitor mode is great for playing Vertical Games on a Horizontal based monitor, cause you can get a line height of around 384 to 400 at 60hz! :) so 25" Med Res monitor plays Vertical games at approx the same as a 19" Rotated monitor would.
