RETROCADE Versus MAME??

Hello,
I tried remapping the Retrocade keys in the cabinet.ini file as per the faq, but now it it really screwed up. I want the f1-f4 keys to be replaced by the number 1-4 keys. Has anyone else done this? what are your feelings on Retrocade versus Mame? Mame obviously supports more, but is it really better? Retrocade does seem faster.
