: Or, you could do it the easy way...

: 1 Unsoldier the mouse optics from the mouse board.
: 2 Hot glue the mouse optics on each side of the optiwheels
: 3) Soldier wires from the mouse board to the newly positioned mouse optics.

This might be easy for someone who is good at "mechanical" things. I am much better at electronics and logic. With a scope and a power supply, I could find the correct things to do to wire it up much easier than that. A couple of cut traces and a few soldered wires, and the job is done.

: Unfortunatly, you may just 'get what you pay for' as the bearings may not be high quality. A real arcade trackball will spin for several seconds after let go... but a computer trkball will not, because they do not use the right kind of bearings. And or the ball is not heavy enough.

Well, these are indistrial trackballs, so I think they are of high quality. I bet they cost quite a bit when they were new. They may not have the same characteristics of arcade trackballs, though. They may not spin as freely, because they may not be designed to do so. I bet they are sealed much better than arcade trackballs though (need to stand up to more hostile environments).

: For 4$, its worth a risk :)

Yeah, $4 is pretty cheap. The only problem is that they only have 38 of them, so they might go fast if someone here gets them working.
