Don't know what ever happened to Dave but I know that's when the Dave's was my home page and every week a new MAME version came out and supported 15+ new games. Dave and Atmospherical heights always had the latest ROMs as well as a few other sites but Dave really updated constantly. I know his site still exists but if he's involved I do not know.
