Or, you could do it the easy way...

1 Unsoldier the mouse optics from the mouse board.
2 Hot glue the mouse optics on each side of the optiwheels
3) Soldier wires from the mouse board to the newly positioned mouse optics.

Unfortunatly, you may just 'get what you pay for' as the bearings may not be high quality. A real arcade trackball will spin for several seconds after let go... but a computer trkball will not, because they do not use the right kind of bearings. And or the ball is not heavy enough.

For 4$, its worth a risk :)
