hi, i've decided to build a cabinet for mame, callus, blah, blah, blah.

i now play on my laptop which is a pIII 650 with 128 megs of RAM, ATI rage pro mobility (with a s-video out), ess soundcard (direct sound works nice), and it all gets played on a logitech wingman exreme connected via USB hub (no game port)that has my mouse and printer hooked into it too. win2000.

i plan to get roughly the same equipment for my cabinet exept the pIII - i'll get a AMD chip, some guy near here sells 'em dirt cheap. he offers a complete computer with the 1 gigahertz chip for 1200.00 canadian! so i figure a 500, 600 or 700 will be really affordable. i also hear the ati rage fury may be better for me.

1. i have a problem that runs thru mame, callus and snes9x, i haven't quite figured it out :(i haven't managed to get the whole gamescreen to fill my monitor, so this means that i have to play with a sort of small screen (2 inches or so of black surrounding it all). when i connect it to a 52 inch zenith tv thru the s-video port i get the same deal. i fiddled with all the settings and i can't get around it. streching the screen sux too.

2. the wingman works great (d-pad + 10 buttons, 2 are select/start) but no one really mentions USB devices in the FAQs? how come? if i get another wingman and hack 'em both to a home made control panel using 2 USB ports will i lose some buttons in mame or callus? the only problem is that if i use a joypad hack then i don't have the option of having tab + esc buttons on the panel unless i hook up a second hacked keyboard just for those keys and some others if i want.

3. i can have two mice hooked thru USB or one on the ps/2 so technically, i can hack one for use of the scroll wheel in the conrol panel (plan to install a static mouse pad beside it) i plan to make for a cab and have a regular one tucked away can't i?

4. if i sound stupid it's cuz i've only started looking for info for about a week now...it's a new concept to me.
