: That was my very first "favourite" arcade game in the early 80's. I'd keep putting quarters into that thing but I could never get to the 4th stage that I saw others reach with the waterfalls and windmill thing.

: When i saw it back then it was called Rope Man, and MAME once had it called Rope Man plus Roc'n'Rope I'm sure both existed, but now it's just there as Roc'n'Rope.

: I remember days when I would only HOPE that MAME could ever support all the nostalgic games I knew, and I loved the days when I'd download the newest beta and see a game like this show up...and even games that I knew from the past but had forgotten, and while browsing screenshots, I'd remember the games that way and it would be a magical discovery.

: Right now I think every game I ever knew has been emulated, including some games I didn't know the names of, I just browsed screen shots, knowing the genre of the game, and I'd find it that way. There was a golf game I used to know but I didn't know what it was called, I just knew it had a trackball and the greens were different shades of green to indicate things like hills or other terrain...I knew what the music was like (that's what was stuck in my head since 1986 in 7-eleven) so I went into mame and ran all the golf games I could find, and sure enough it was there, I heard that familiar music and was in awe. I forget again what it's called but I know it exists!

: Another good place to ask about things like this is one of the mame newsgroups. I posed a "name that game" regarding Mania Challenge, and within a few hours the answer came back to me. Another long lost rediscovery.

Druin,

Thank you very very much for your reply. Ever since I came across mame a few weeks ago, I've been wondering about this game, I spent a fortune on it and barely had any pocket money cos it all went on this darn game.

Now I need to find a mame version.

Cheers,
Jamie.
