I don't think svideo can get better with a more expensive card. Cards are more expensive because their speed, memory, 3D features, etc. None of this affects the quality of the S-video output. In fact, the Xpert@play is a cheap card and s-video is better (from what I've read) than more expensive ones. As far as I know, ATI makes some of the best s-video cards. As far as mame is concerned, it doesn't take advantage of all the 3D features of more expensive cards, like texture memory, hardware 3d, etc., so a good 2D card should do fine for a mame-only system.
: Would you say that the image quality, through s-video, could get better with a more expensive card, or is that just the best you can get with TV-out.
