: I was just at Andy's page. It says 2 Trackballs or 4 Spinners. Now, anyone have one of these? I wanna know what possible configurations there are. Also it says rotary joysticks can be used with this device. First, does that mean Optical Sticks or Rotary Sticks?

Andy> This means optical rotary sticks. The question of the difference in play between the optical type and the switch type (Druin's interface) is interesting. I'd like to hear from anyone who has used both.

Next, do the joysticks use up the same connections as spinners? meaning, instead of 4 spinners can you hook up 4 Rotary Joysticks?

Andy> That is correct. You can hook up 4 spinners AND 2 trackballs or various combinations.

: Next, can you just hook up 1 Trackball and 2 Rotary (or optical) Joysticks? That is what I would like to do if it actually works.

Andy> No problem. You can have the optical sticks either going into separate serial ports or the same port. The trackball and sticks will auto-switch.

: Oh, and it uses 2 serial ports? So MAME32 for example can do this? And do you think I could add the OSCAR Spinner using ps/2 port too?

Andy> This should be ok. But there are some limitations as someone has said, with Windows (MAME32) as windows treats all mice as one device moving one cursor. You need EMU+ or later MAME with EMU+ code for multi-player trackball/spinner etc.

: Ideally I want:

: 2 Rotary Joysticks
: 6 Fire Buttons (plus other misc buttons)
: 1 Trackball
: 1 Spinner (oscar)

: So I am trying to figure out the best way to set this all up in my cabinet. Thanks for any input.
