In Reply to: I'm now running 6.24. Thanks for the help. If you want to know what happened read (more) posted by robert mcelwee on 14, 2001 at 12:30 AM:

Something that might be worth mentioning here: I made a change to the Opti-Pac firmware shortly after it's launch. This increased the sample rate of the inputs. The reason was to cater for the Happ Trackwheel. This device has an optical wheel driven by a gear-train which spins very fast and could exceed the sampling. No other devices were affected (Rob's was a later one). This change might mean that the best drivers and settings may be different for these early versions. Easiest fix: email me if you have one of the early ones and I'll send out an update chip so everyone is on the later version. The early version has "1.2" written on the top and the later "1.3". If you have a "1.2" I can send an update.

: Everyone said 6.24 was the way to go. I downloaded this and put it on my boot floppy (don't ask me why I boot my arcade cabs from a floppy - I just do ) when I built the machine and told my autoexec.bat to run it. Well, for some reason it will not run it when I first boot up. I have no idea why it refuses to run but since I only reboot the thing every so often it wasn't a big deal - I just drop to dos and type MOUSE. Well, it was running some other mouse.com (ver 3.85) that resided elsewhere in my path. I just took all the other mouse.com(s) off my system and now make sure mouse.com (ver 6.24) is the one that loads. Just bowled a 97 on capcom bowling! Yeah, that sucks BUT it is much better than the 5 or 10 that I could have bowled before changing drivers. Thanks for steering me in the right direction guys! I suggest that we pool our settings so we can collectively come up with some good settings for all the trackball/spinner games. If you want, just send them to me (speed/sensitivity) and I will post them on my web site. Thanks again for the help...
