Hey Robert,
I have the same setup using a 3 inch happs translucent trackball. At first I was using a DOS box in windows and had to tweak the mouse settings in windows along with the mouse settings in mame to get the desired effect. When I first tried Centipede and Capcom Bowling they were impossible to play correctly. In fact when I bumped the mouse speed up in Arcadeos the actual effect was that it slowed the trackball down and did not seem as jumpy (weird huh). I did manage to make them playable with this setup but not as good as I have them set up now. Now I run in pure DOS but the mouse drivers included in my windows install sucked for the games in DOS. I tried about 8 different mouse drivers and finally found one that works great, it's not perfect but now centipede and capcom bowling work excellent, crystal castles is playable too. Kick on the other hand has been a tough one to sort out. For some reason it just will not work the way I remember it. A small sacrifice I feel. Once I got centipede working good I must have played it for 4 hours straight (what a blast). The driver I use now is MOUSE.SYS version 6.24

It can be found at the url below along with many others. Give em all a shot if 6.24 won't work. Different things work for different folks. This is what worked for me.

Have fun!

: I was so excited when I started building my new arcade machine. I knew I would finally be able to play centipede, kick, and Birdie King. Well, I am finding that it is next to impossible to play these games. I can play Kick if I move the ball very slowly. If I spin my trackball hard in one direction my guy stays in one place for a second or two and then flys off in the opposite direction. Birdie King is impossible to play (how do you drive the ball off the tee if you cannot spin the trackball hard). Can anyone help me with some settings to try or some tricks. I am starting to believe I will never get to play the games I really love.
