A belt sander would be faster, but I liked the control with the orbital. I was afraid that too much would come off with the belt dsander. I guess you could give it a try. I think I used 100 grit paper. That might have been another reason why it took so long, but like I said, I didn't want to take too much off at once for fear of taking too much wood with it. Good Luck!

: Do you think a belt sander would be faster? Also, what grain sandpaper did you use on your sander?

: : I sanded my Double Dragon cab. down and it did take a LONG time. Not days, but just hours. I used a orbital sander and the top paint layer did come off easily. The white layer like you said did take forever. This is because that layer is a sealer coat. It is put on so that the paint doesn't soak into the particle board. It does come off, just keep at it. :) If you are planning on painting the cabinet again, I would recommend putting a sealer coat on again. I can't remember what I used, but any home Depot, or Menards etc. would have what you need. It only takes 45 min. to dry too so it doesn't slow you down too much.
: : Good luck!
