I have about 7-7.5" free space (from the center of my trackball to the edge of joysticks, buttons, spinners) on my control panel. I haven't updated my page lately but (in case it isn't updated by the time you look) there is an old picture of my panel at the link below. There is a spinner located diagonally (upper left hand corner) from the trackball but it doesn't get in the way. Oh, it is a 2.25 track...
