I sanded my Double Dragon cab. down and it did take a LONG time. Not days, but just hours. I used a orbital sander and the top paint layer did come off easily. The white layer like you said did take forever. This is because that layer is a sealer coat. It is put on so that the paint doesn't soak into the particle board. It does come off, just keep at it. :) If you are planning on painting the cabinet again, I would recommend putting a sealer coat on again. I can't remember what I used, but any home Depot, or Menards etc. would have what you need. It only takes 45 min. to dry too so it doesn't slow you down too much.
Good luck!

: I am preparing my cabinet (Dead Angle, don't know what it was originally, but cabinet appears to be generic), and I am going to sand and repaint it. I have a regular disc sander, and got some 60 grain pads for it. I started sanding it, and the top layer of glossy black paint came of very easily. Below that, there is a dull black paint, which took a lot more time to get through. After that, there was an original white paint job, and that is taking forever to get through. I haven't made it very far yet, and it seems like it will literally take days to get the paint off at this rate.

: Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to get the original paint off, without using gasoline and a match? :)

: Also, once I get the cabinet stripped, I want to paint it with a high-gloss black. I've never painted anything like this before, so does anyone have any suggestions as to how many coats of paint, what type, spray or brush, etc?

: Thanks in advance...
