There is only 1 destination monitor that can only do a max of 640x480, thats one of the 31" models. There is another 31" model that does 800x600. All these rest can do 800x600.
Anyway, there is nothing at all wrong with 640x480 if the intent is hooking up to a console (only the DC has progressive output, real VGA...not even the PS2 can do that). Looks fantastic. Sure for playing Mame games, maybe not the best choice, but 800x600 makes vector games look good enough for me.
