: So assuming the axis can be pre-set or user selectable from X to Y, if someone wanted to use 2 spinners, they need 2 serial or serial/ps2 port combos available, and if they want 4 spinners, would they need 4 input ports?

: Is there a way to chain spinners so that one can wire its optics to the master spinner and have the slave spinner send its optical data to the master spinner's mouse guts and get both axes on the one port? Hence having a way to get 4 spinners on only 2 mouse ports?

: I know some people had a dream of using 4 spinners for warlord and other such uses, and I was wondering how they'd do it unless they were able to double up on the axes with whatever spinners they used...

Yes, even though I didn't explain that in my previous post, when the OSCAR is revised to be selectable between using the X or Y axis, you will also be able to "chain" two together (1 X and 1 Y) to a master PCB using a single port. In fact, I have that set up on my test machine right now.

Using the MAME second mouse driver (Optidrv), it should be possible to have 4 spinners. I haven't tested EMU+ with the Optidrv mouse driver and 4 OSCAR's, but you can bet I will soon!
