: If you are using wood for the panel then use a 1 1/8" speed bore to drill your button holes as well as the stick hole for the joystick. A speed bore (spade bit) makes quick work of wood.

When using a speed bore, try to find one with little fangs on the outside ends of the spade. They make much cleaner holes. Also, drill the hole half way through the board, and then finish from the other side. Keeps all the edges tidy. :)
